Springhouse is evolving into a multigenerational source of connection, experience, and growth for lifelong learners. Our adult programs invite you home to learn the essential skills for building a whole personhood and vital, beloved community in a challenging world.
Grounded in wisdom traditions and with open, curious minds, we learn together how to integrate presence, love, responsibility, and commitment, as individuals and as an adult community., We do so that we are able in order to do the work in the world that needs to be done and to reveal these values in our everyday lives.
One of the ways we build beloved community at Springhouse is by dancing together. This dance is not performative or technical; it is a sacred practice that keeps us connected to ourselves and each other. In a culture where the body is ignored, we reclaim the relationship we have with our breathing bodies through dance. Embodiment is a radical act; one that we see as essential if we are to meet the incredible challenges we face today.
At Springhouse, dance holds us together as a community in ways that words simply cannot. We dance to strengthen our bonds, to celebrate, and to summon the vitality, courage, and joy it takes to serve a world in need. We invite anyone who wants to reclaim their relationship with their bodies, and foster vitality within themselves in the safety of community, to join us. This practice is led by Dr. Jenny Finn, who has been building community with dance and creativity for over fifteen years.
The Education Design Lab is a place where participants can experiment with a vitality-centered educational design model with the support of a design community. Participants will explore what it means to decolonize and liberate education, practice principles that foster vitality in their learning communities, and work with other courageous people who are redesigning education in ways that take care of vitality.
The Lab happens every trimester at Springhouse (fall, winter, and summer) and consists of three 2-hour workshops, practice work, and peer mentoring in between workshops. After the Lab, cohorts will continue to work together, as well as collaborate with other Lab cohorts.
Springhouse is committed to anti-racism work, educating ourselves and our community about racism and privilege. We offer courses and community spaces for white people to address white body supremacy in ourselves, our families, and our communities. These offerings are a safe place to take an honest look at ourselves to dismantle the effects of systemic racism, both within and without.
